  • Viva Las Vegas <3

Haven't updated this since Europe. Fair enough since I haven't traveled since then. Anyway, heading to Sin City in a few hours. Quite excited. This will be the first time I'm heading to Vegas since I've turned 21... I'm not sure what type of debauchery is going down but I'm pretty sure it's going to be epic!

  • Amsterdam.

    Good bye Paris, hello Amsterdam!

It's a quaint city along the river. I love the canals here. The ambiance is completely different than that of Paris- a lot more laid back. The buildings are beautiful- many lopsided. Really loved the canal cruise. There's a stench of weed in the air. I don't know if I can sneak some before I go- I am after all, with my parents and I've never tried anything of that sort before. Saw the red light district today... not as crazy as I thought- but definitely something different? (Not that I frequent various red light districts)... ohwell anyway, super excited for the Van Gogh museum tomorrow!

  • Amsterdam Tomorrow.

Leaving Paris. Finally. I love it here, but I'm getting bored. I thought I would never say that! I'm excited to go to Amsterdam and see something new. I'm getting bored quicker and quicker- I need new things to do and explore. My head is so burnt out I should have taken this summer easy. I'm so tired all the time... and school starts in a few weeks. I'll update with some pics later. Trying to keep eyes open at this point haha...

  • New Start.

I'm sick of where I am in my life. I need a new start. I'm done with this phase in my life and I need to move on. Where has all my inspiration gone?

  • I JUST WANT TO DANCE!

I got a haircut yesterday. I'm not crazy in love with it. womp womp... poor hairdresser guy, I wasn't estatic. He got the worst customer ever. I hate getting haircuts and stuff like that. He was such a sweetheart too.

Anyway, finally went clubbing here in Paris this year. While waiting for the club to open, the girls and I went to a nearby bar to pregame. The bartender was awesome- gave us free bubblegum shots. We made him take kamazi's with us too. I had 5. Someone tried to throw a bottle at some girl in the front. It was a good night. So, I have officially stayed up and waited for the metro to start up again- no cabbing it last night. Duplex was an interesting club but I still like Six Seven better. Nice venue, very crowded, but kinda sketch? Everything's kind of sketch to me... but I guess like I'm not the type to like someone trying to force themselves on me. I don't want to kiss you, please don't pick me up off the ground (yes, I know I'm tiny and light), and don't force your groinal area on me either... I like my personal space! I just want to dance, damnit! I didn't ask you to get all up in my grill! Some people just don't take a hint. Bah, but hey, if you're into these sorta things, by all means. I won't judge. Seriously though, I don't know where all their raging hormones come from because we're all adults here, we don't need to jump the next attractive person we see.

Last day of class tomorrow... then I'll be with my parents before heading to Amsterdam! I'm super excited for the Van Gogh museum! Until then, I'm just packing... my mess of a life in this dorm room.

  • Le Weekend a Paris.

Friday- didn't end up going to the Tokyo Palace because some people want to be late just because they felt like it. It's okay that someone waited for us for over an hour and a half... and didn't apologize. She only wanted to go to the photo booth- and said that she didn't want to go anyway when the museum was closed. It's okay if you don't want to do something, just say it- but don't drag everyone along so that they can't accomplish what they wanted to. Went to Pont Des Arts afterwards. Sketchy and shady- I don't advise going. I don't call people grabbing me from behind and trying to kiss me, fun. My idea of a good time definately isn't someone who's foaming at the mouth wants my alcohol and offers the group drugs. SKETCHHHH...Thanks, but no thanks.

Saturday- Class trip to Versailles. Me and Liz went on so many adventures during our quest to Marie Antoinette's estate. Beautiful place, I'm not much for the palace at Versailles (a little gaudy if you ask me) but I love the gardens. If you are to see anything, go to the gardens. They're spectacular, and very relaxing. Later that night, drinks with Joe in Bastille. I went to the wrong Opera- because he didn't specify that there was an Opera at Bastille, I was only aware of the Opera, the main one. Anyway, it was nice to see Joe again before he leaves for Belgium Monday.

Sunday- Tour De France. I'm disappointed Lance lost, but hey, he can't win every year! 3rd place isn't bad. It was a nice atmosphere, thought there'd be more excitement though... but the French are more reserved! It was a nice experience. Anyway, Nadia's here in Paris, and I'm quite excited! It'll be fun spending time with her before we all head back to the states. Okay... class in the AM. Night :)

  • It's been a while: Here's A Particial Weekly Update

So here's what I've been up:

The past few days have been great, save for my disappointing test result this week. I did better on my first exam- so from here on out I need to haul ass/ suck up and make the grades to receive a certificate. I spoke with my professor after class the past few classes- she likes me- somewhat- but I can't shake the feeling that she's a tad condescending. Whatever, it's almost over.

Monday/ Lundi: We went to the Champs Elysses to show Debby the Arc de Triumph and do a little last minute shopping on one of the most spectacular shopping areas in the world. Later that night, we all enjoyed a river cruise on the Seine. In the AM Debby left to go back to the states. While it's been great to have vistors while I've been here (I've been blessed to have so many people want to see me whilest I'm here)- I think I still prefer going away by myself. I don't like having the responsibility to make sure the other person is having fun or that they're getting enough out of their experience... (even if they do or don't impose it) when most people are old enough to take care of themselves... it's not my job to make sure they're getting what they want done- I am after all, here for school first.

    Tuesday/ Mardi: Uneventful/ can't remember.

Wednesday/ Mecredi: After class I went to St. Ettiene Du Mont with my friend Helen and Liz. It's just behind the Pantheon and it's dedicated to the patron St. of Paris- St. Genevieve.

It's kind of sad though, the Pantheon used to be her church, but instead now it's housing some of the greatest minds that France offered the world- Victor Hugo, the Curies, Voltaire, the list goes on. Also, depicted on the walls are various parts of French history. French symbolism is strewn all over the walls of the dome and there is a huge pendulum hanging from the ceiling, proving that the earth rotates on its axis instead of being stationary. It's just weird how a church once dedicated to the Saint of the city is now holding all these scientific advances. These symbols are so earthy rather than spiritual. St. Ettiene is a beautiful church in itself though. It's tucked away behind the Pantheon, but don't be fooled- it's gothic styling on the outside hides a church that is "glowing" with natural sunlight. Spiral staircases decorate the place, and if you look up and turn around after you walk inside, there is a magnificant pipe organ spanning the whole entrance way. It used to be part of an Abbey... it's unusal for it to be a Gothic styled church since it was mostly constructed in 16th century. After this, we hopped on the 10 and we were at St. Germain De Pres. This is the oldest church in Paris, if not France. It's very simple, but it was amazing to see how large whatever is left is. It's quite dark inside, but it's to be expected from a building that is from the around the early 11th century. It used to also be an abbey, but most was destroyed by the Normans.

    Thursday/ Jeudi:

Yesterday, I saw my friend Joe- whom I haven't seen for two years... actually I haven't seen him since we both were in Paris last. It was nice being able to see him and give him big hug- he's over 6 ft tall, so he needs big hugs! Anyway, I finally got a bag. I didn't get my Chanel bag, or a Dior one. I have yet to see one I am totally in love with- but for now, I got my first Longchamps bag. A limited edition just for Paris one! It's fabulous!! Anyway, after looking for that tiny ass little Longchamps store which was 3 and a half excurisions for me and poor Nicolette, I got to see my FAVORITE MUSEUM of all time: Musee D'Orsay.

Located across the Seine from the famed Louvre, this building used to be a train station. What I love about this museum is that it houses the impressionist art and also, because it was a train station, there are fabulously high ceilings. The natural light is spectacular. I just love the art:  Monet, Degas, Picasso, and of course, my favorite: VAN HOGH! The statues are also fabulous which is odd for me to say, because a lot of people know I have a huge phobia of statues- some just creep me the fuck out.

After this, I took Liz to Longchamp again because I finally knew where it was- it took about 10 minutes to walk there- she also picked up the same bag as me. After that, we made our way to La Madeleine Church. Dedicated to Mary Madeleine, it was commissioned by Napoleon to glorify his army. Much to mine and Liz's surprise- this place was just creepy. I had goosebumps the whole time and I was uncomfortable. After spending a few minutes inside, I heard a weird noise, and something moved- it was coming from the statue of Jesus and also from another of Mary! This really, really, really, really, (I can't even stress really) really, creeped me out and I wanted to leave immediately. Not only were these statues talking, but blinking too! Other statues were weird modern interpretations of biblical things. None the less, me and Liz booked it. Looking at the pictures afterwards in an English Pub we found (The Cricketer) I got chills again. It was just a weird and creepy place.

Anyway, Liz and I decided on the Pub because we couldn't find a restaurant that was agreeable. Drinking beer on an emty stomach was a great idea! They both have carbs! My Desperado bottle was pretty sick and we were happy with our decision. We were watching some weird dancing gymnastics thing with a ball on ESPEN... it definately was interesting! Afterwards Liz and I had Japanese food (and sake to keep the buzz going) and found Harry's New York Bar- a hang out that both Hemmingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald used to enjoy. The ambiance was quaint, and it was a lovely find! After our little bar excursions, we walked past Concorde and went to the carnival by the Louvre to go on some kiddie rides, and to get some beineights for dessert. On the way there, we were thwarted by Secret Service- the President of Camaroon was coming- I saw SWAT there too! After this minor delay, we took some pictures by the Louvre's glass pyramids and headed back home. What a perfect way to conclude the night! (Especially if you're buzzed!)

    Today:
Friday/ Vendredi: Enjoyed some more Japanese food for lunch today with Nicolette. Bumped into Joe from our building like TWICE. He actually walked into me and I was about to yell at this person who so rudely walked into me while I was crossing the street. Now I'm just waiting for Mary to come back from class before we all head out to the Palais Tokyo of Modern art. We can't wait to check out the photobooths that Jack told me to try out! More later!!!

  • My liver needs a rest: Monet's Garden @ Giverny

After a lot of us were hung over... our SHU group made it to Giverny to enjoy Monet's Garden in Normandy. It was a really relaxing day after a crazy weekend of missing the metro opening hours two nights in a row. Some of the flowers were really spectacular to look at! Tomrrow is going to be a crazy busy day... planning to hit up Champs Elysses with Debby before she leaves so she can see the famed street as well as see the Arc De Triumph, and do a river cruise. To recap what Debby has enjoyed in Paris when she wasn't jet lagged so far are the Bastille Day fireworks/ the Eiffel Tower and Pompier balls, Notre Dame, shopping in St. Michel / Luxumburg, Montparnass 360 where you can see a panaroma view of Paris(where we met some awesome British gentlemen) crepes, bar hopping and hookah in Bastille, bar hopping in Chateau Rouge and a mini flat party... and Monet's Garden.

    Pompier Ball

En route to mini flat party...

Chilling with some awesome British gents :)

We were doing the stink eye face.

  • FML again.

It's been a crazy week of mostly partying since we had off for Bastille Day. The fireworks were gorgeous...! I just got in from going out last night. I basically puked my brains out- something I haven't done in the longest time. FML... but up until that point, I was having a fabulous time! Pictures later.

  • Random Weekly Update

Kenny's visit has been quite busy. Friday, we went to the Louvre at night. It was so much better because it was a lot more spacious! We were actually able to see/ take photos of things without getting shoved out of the way. I'll have to upload and post those pics later. BTW Starbucks here is like 4.50 euro a tall... that's like over $7 a tall... even I, a true addict to Starbucks have drawn an invisible line, forbidding myself to get a tall a few times a week, if not everyday... Kenny's leaving in the AM but Debby's en route here now!

Last night was pretty fun. Went out to St. Michel and met up with Grace. I haven't seen her since last time I was in Paris!! It was great catching up with her, and doing our favorite past time... Paris nightlife. Met some nice people last night, three guys at the pub that met at a hostel they were sharing a room in. They were desperate for some English speaking company. Turns out one of them lives in Manhattan too! Then, on the metro ride back home, met two girls also staying in the same unversity area, both from Michigan. Tomorrow night, we're all going out to celebrate!! Hopefully I can also get a hold of my friend Oumou who goes to Seton Hall but lives in Paris :) Tomorrow and Tuesday are going to be... nothing short of amazing (if we can remember any of it)!!!

A mini list of things I need to do and not in any particular order:
    • buy gifts for everyone...
    • finish my postcards
    • buy the right stamps
    • make it to more museums
    • go to mass at the Notre Dame
    • head to the beach one weekend
    • stop drinking so much (this one is optional)
    • study
    • do hw?
Anyway, here are some pics from random nights going out on the town:
